Resources

Teachers/Peers – Cooper

We’ve all had a hard time finding the information we need in school. The library can be a strong source but there are options that are more abundant and convenient. We often don’t reach out to others as we don’t like the idea of asking for help but what we forget is that some people can be more informative whereas other sources like books can be vague. Fellow students offer advice and might even know more information than you if you share a class. Teachers may also have a unique insight into information beyond what some sources may offer and can even help you apply it to your work.

Library – Cole

Both the in-person library and the library website are amazing resources that every student should take advantage of. The library, aside from being an amazing place to study and get work done, is also home to hundreds of useful books that you can take out and read. The library website is also very helpful. On the website, you can easily search for articles and filter your results based on different factors. Need a peer-reviewed article on clam enzymes? You can find one! Need a newspaper clipping from the 1920s? You could probably find one! The library has everything you need to research whatever topics you need. We’ve provided a link below so you can check out the UNE Library Website on your own time.

SASC – Ben

In the Student Academic Success Center (SASC), many students go here to seek help. This resource is key as it is run by students who are pretty confident in their studies. Freshman year of college I was doing horrible in chemistry. But when I had a few meetings with a fellow peer who knew how to break it down into a more manageable pace, I understood the material. Now I’m going, to be honest I’m still not good at chem but my grades did improve. Not only is SASC good for student help but SASC is another great resource for working on resumes, projects, work, and just asking for help on anything. Below are links to the SASC Website and their Tutoring Services.

Student Counseling Center – Haley

When starting college you are expected to be able to adapt and grow as a student and a person. All of these new beginnings can be stressful and that’s understandable. College is a big life change and we all need some help sometimes. Fortunately, here at UNE, we have a student counseling center with easy access for all students. These individual appointments are helpful and free to all students at UNE. Within college your mental health is precious and you must take extra care of yourself if you wish to succeed. Once you start letting your mental health worsen, your grades will follow along. Don’t be afraid to reach out to the counseling center to schedule an appointment with one of our counselors. We’ve also provided a link to the Student Counseling Service below if you need to make an appointment or need more information.
